A new imaginative and inspiring project to build an orchard along Oswestry railway has begun.
Cambrian Railways with local expertise from Orchardist, Tom Adams, will be putting together an impressive orchard of apple trees. Not only will this "look stunning" in 30 years, but the skills required to plant the orchard, create hedges and so on will be transferred to young volunteers throughout.
The fruit from the orchard will be sold locally and maybe carried, by train naturally, to market.

At a time when food security is top of the agenda, this is the kind of seed project from which many others in and around Oswestry may grow.
It is Oswald's Tree, after all, and the symbolism of the tree continues to resonate through Oswestry.
As this exciting project develops, they'll be looking for volunteers to help clear the land and get the orchard up and running. We'll add a link shortly as to how to go about getting involved.
WELL DONE CAMBRIAN RAILWAYS!!!!
