Good morning to everyone that reads my Nuneaton blog page. Been fairly busy promoting a leaflet I am working on that will be posted during Feb so keep a look out for that in your doors! I had a very interesting press release sent to me from Peter Whitehead who is the project manager for 2nd Chance Furniture so I thought I would share it with you (see below) I am also looking to work with some restaurants in the area so if you know any then please send me a recommendation via the contacts page! Speak soon, Lisa.

PRESS RELEASE

February 2009

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

THE BIG WOMBLE

'Making good use of the things that we find…'

On 20th February 2009 2nd Chance Furniture Re-Use Project in Nuneaton will take part in the Furniture Re-use Network's (FRN) BIG WOMBLE, to remind all of us of the importance of reducing, re-using and re-cycling.

Staff and volunteers from 2nd Chance will be in Nuneaton town centre (Church Street) - hopefully with a REAL LIVE WOMBLE - promoting their furniture re-use project on Friday 20th February from 10am to 4pm. All visitors to the stall will get the chance to enter a free draw for a re-furbished, used bicycle. If anyone has any furniture that they are able to donate, this can either be taken along to the stall - or a booking can be made for collection.

2nd Chance Furniture Re-Use Project is based in Weddington Terrace, Nuneaton and was set up just over two years ago with Big Lottery funding. The project started by collecting and redistributing furniture and other household goods at affordable rates to low income groups, then progressed to white goods through its association with Onley Prison "Goods Again" scheme.

Prior to the Big Womble, 2nd Chance will be selling FRN raffle tickets with the top prizes being items of furniture donated by celebrities. Some of the celebrities involved are Pat Cash, Nick Hancock, Arsene Wenger and Jack Sheppard (David Platt - Coronation Street) Raffle tickets are now on sale at 2nd Chance furniture and the list of prizes can be viewed at www.bigwomble.org.uk . The FRN will donate half of the raffle money raised by 2nd Chance to support the work of this local project. The draw takes place in London (Wimbledon College) on 20th February.

Peter Whitehead (Project Manager) said "This is a great opportunity for staff and volunteers at 2nd Chance to reach out to the community, in a fun event that re-enforces the message for all of us to 'reduce, re-use and re-cycle'.

Anyone who can't get to see them in Nuneaton on 20th February but who wish to donate furniture or white goods (that are suitable for re-sale) can either drop them in at the Weddington Terrace showroom, or arrange to have them collected by contacting 024 7632 6189. A donation to cover the cost of any collection would be welcome. 2nd Chance is a charitable, non-profit making project.
