DAY CARE
The Mary Ann Evans Hospice was established to enhance the quality of life to people who had a diagnosis of cancer or other life limiting illnesses. It offers a warm and welcoming home from home atmosphere. Whatever the patients cultures, beliefs and faiths, whatever their needs:- physical, emotional, psychological, social or spiritual we can offer care and support for both themselves and their families. The Day Hospice can provide care for up to 15 patients per day Monday to Friday. All the care is given free of charge to those receiving it.
We have a Hospice doctor and a team of dedicated qualified nurses, healthcare assistants, supported by a team of fantastic volunteers. The service is nurse led and whilst they attend the day hospice they are still under the care of their own GP, district nurse, consultant or other care professionals. We have our Chaplain too, who offers support to both patients and their families.
HOSPICE AT HOME
This service is available 365 days a year, which enables patients to stay in their own homes, where possible, if that is their wish. The team consists of a Staff Nurse and Senior Healthcare Assistants who are all experienced professionals.
The team offer respite care during the day or overnight depending on the needs of the patient and carer.
Last year the team:
- Received 221 new referrals
- Averaged 62 home visits per week
- Travelled 31,000 miles
So as you can see, this is a valuable service offered to the local community, again costing money.
With your help we can make a difference so please contact 02476 865450 for details on ideas and projects or fundraising, becoming a volunteer or just to simply to make a donation.

Present Amnesty
