Walk 1: Market Cross to River
Experience a country village at its best. From the heart of this picturesque village, with its quaint cottages and peaceful church, the route makes its
way into the countryside, before looping back to end at the River Smite. Along the way, explore leafy lanes, and tranquil footpaths, and take a look around the village’s most notable landmark – the ruined and renovated church of St Mary’s (1.5 miles) - some uneven footpaths make it unsuitable for buggies and wheelchairs.
Walk 2: River to Garden Café
From the River Smite this route takes you first to the Colston Bassett Dairy, with its shop selling internationally famous Stilton cheese. Back into the heart of the village you’ll pass a charming school, where many generations of villagers have been educated, and the ornate 15th century
Martin’s Arms pub, with renowned restaurant. Finally, end your walk at the thoughtfully renovated Village Store and Garden Café (1 mile) - and enjoy a delightful morning coffee, afternoon tea or lunch.
