Roger and Anthea Cawdron have owned this historic pub on the banks of the River Wensum for over 25 years, and their warm and welcoming approach has built up a strong following and a great reputation in Norwich.
On a sunny summer's day, there is no better place to sit in Norwich, than on the riverside terrace - one of Norwich's "hidden gems". Catching the afternoon sun, this is the ideal place to enjoy a cooling drink or read the Sunday papers.
In the winter, the main bar is warm and welcoming and is even open on Christmas Day so that you can enjoy the day in good cheer.
The pub caters for all ages - from the youngest, to customers who have been regulars for 40 years.
As well as serving delicious pub food - perfect for brunch, a pub lunch for work or pleasure, or a relaxing Sunday lunch by the river - the Ribs have a great range of cask ales, and often feature guest ales. The staff will be happy to let you have a "taster", to help you select the perfect ale for you or try something new.
All their pub food is prepared on the premises, meaning that it really is among the best pub food restaurants around - and so conveniently placed for Tombland and the centre of Norwich, it's a great place to stop by for brunch, lunch or drinks overlooking the river.
Breakfast baps are served from 11am and the Lunchtime menu is available 12noon to 2.30pm weekdays and 11am to 5pm at weekends.
With more of a 'local pub' feel than many of the bars or pubs in Norwich, you'll be able to see at once how much care and warmth the Cawdrons have put into the Ribs -why it is known as "the city's favourite local".
What you might not expect in one of Norwich's pubs, is a meeting room set up for business meetings (with wifi and two TV screens for presentations) The room is also perfect for private functions, dinner parties, or for clubs and groups. Use of this meeting room is free of charge.
