Your house history or family history research is something to be proud of ....something to be passed down the generations…. something that will last for years to come….

…..which is why you would want it professionally presented and well researched.

If you are commissioning property history research in order to help sell a property, or to promote your business, then it is vital to get this right.

So, who is Gill Blanchard, and why should you choose Past Search?

Gill has many years of experience in historic research and genealogy, as well as numerous qualifications in the field.

She is a member of the Association of Genealogists and Researchers in Archives (AGRA), which is the only professional organisation in the field where you have to prove your competency before they will allow you to become a member.

Not only that, she is a qualified tutor of adults, having taught at Post Graduate and introductory level for organisations such as the Society of Genealogists, the University of East Anglia, Norfolk Family History Society, Adult Education and the Library Service.

Gill has recently published a book on family research - "Tracing Your East Anglian Ancestors - A Guide for Family Historians". A further book, on House History, is due to be published this year.

House History

A professional House History will add value to your property, create the perfect heirloom, or provide a wonderful gift for a family member or old friend.

If you have a business, it will provide a fantastic angle for your PR, help your local brand by linking you into your community, and, if you have premises open to the public, it can provide a great visual display.

Gill will chat to you before she starts any research to find out what you want to achieve and to discuss pricing.

Once completed, the house history can be presented in a number of ways, from a straight forward report detailing the findings, a presentation folder containing details of the history with photographs, original documents and details of any relevant local history to put the research into context, or a professionally produced book.

A house history can reveal any number of historical facts, covering the lives of the families who lived there, to changes in the physical structure of the building and the historical events in the local area which affected your house and its residents.

Structural analyses can also be useful for architects, builders and developers of a property. In this respect Gill is assisted by Dr. Sarah Edwards, an architectural historian with eight years university lecturing experience.

Family History and Local History services

As well as offering local family history courses through the Norfolk Family History Society, Gill works with Pharos Teaching and Tutoring to offer online Family History Courses.

Gill is happy to help people trace their ancestors and create a family tree. She has also provided local research services to private individuals, businesses, authors, academics from around the world.
