The Norwich Puppet Theatre was created in 1979 as a permanent base for a touring company and was opened to the public in 1980.
Situated in the wonderful medieval church of St James near the centre of Norwich, the Puppet Theatre is full of atmosphere. Walk into the foyer to be greeted by creatures of all sizes, puppets of all ages - a veritable feast for the eyes - and a child's delight.
This unique venue has a 185 seat auditorium, 50 seat studio, workshops, exhibition gallery, shop and licensed bar.
It has a year round programme of family entertainment, with Puppet shows from touring companies and puppet making workshops for children and adults.
Each workshop teaches you how to make a particular type of puppet -rod puppets, marionettes, Bunraku and glove puppets. There is nothing more enjoyable than spending a morning or evening in this Aladdin's cave of treasures, recreating childhood pleasures and forgetting everything in the delight of the moment.
