Golden Beetroot and Jerusalem Artichokes

Bookmark and Share

This week HFG Farm Shop in Norwich created a bit of conversation when they started selling golden beetroot from Hughes Organics.. Hopefully the'll have some more available this week with the possible addition of Chioggia beetroot, which is a striped version. Both of these look very attractive on the plate and they taste good as well.

"It's at this time of year that we start to think about variety and colour in our food after the long dark Winter days, especially as the weather looks set to be Spring-like later this week," says Paul Campbell, the owner of the farm shop and Local Food Direct.

"Patience is the key though, as although planting is well under way, it will be some time before new season crops come to fruition. In the meantime, there is still plenty of variety around and why not try something new? We still have local crops such as Jerusalme artichokes, kale and celeriace available. These are all easy to cook, colourful and a tasty addition to a variety of meals, from soups and roasts to stir-frys and salads."

HFG Farm Shop are working on a customer loyalty scheme that will reward customers for every pound that is spent with them, with special promotions along the way. Hopefully we'll have the scheme up and running within the next few weeks.
