Hexham Carnival - that's the way to do it

Its carnival time in Hexham on Sunday 1st July from 11am in Hexham Parks, so come down to the park and enjoy  live bands, fairground attractions, entertainment, dance, stalls and refreshments. It's a great summer outing for the whole family in Hexham's popular Green Flag award winning park.

Look out for traditional Punch and Judy shows hourly on the Sele; The Sunshine Panners who will give three half hour shows in the afternoon bringing the sound of the Caribbean to the Sele: lots of action from cheerleaders Tynedale Titans from Terpischore Dance, and dance displays from Splitz Dance Group.  Come and cheer on the teams in the tug of war; the RSPB stall with children's games, while Hexham Churches Together will host a service in the bandstand with 300 people.

Between noon and 5pm 'Music in the Park' is guaranteed to get your feet tapping. 'Music in the Park' at Hexham Carnival is now in its 9th year. The line up includes DownFall  - the band from Hexham Middle School who will play a selection of original music and covers. Razor Sharp - The Middle School Band made their debut at the carnival last year and since then they have been in great demand playing gigs throughout the North East. Final Collection - The most popular party band in Tynedale return
again - don't miss them. The Claypeas - A newly formed band playing some classic rock songs from the last 40 years. The Proper Boys - Following last years great performance this classic rock quartet will again be thrilling the crowd in 2007. Fables Last Stand - Currently on a UK tour, a rock band set for stardom - don't miss this chance to see them Free at Hexham Carnival.
 
There will also be fairground attractions, a merry go round and
trampoline, charity stalls with tombolas, raffles, craft stalls, ice
cream, doughnuts, hot food and other refreshments.

Richard Boaden Chairman of Hexham Carnival said: "The Carnival is designed to be a fun excursion for the whole family with plenty to do and with lots of community invovement. We look forward to welcoming visitors to experience the Carnival spirit whether it is enjoying the bands at Music in the Park which has become a Carnival favourite or on the Sele being entertained by the Sunshine Panners or the 100 or so dancing girls from Splitz and Terpsichore."

Darren Lamb, organiser of Music in the Park said:  "This will be a great afternoon's entertainment, with classic rock favourites,  original songs, and rising stars, guaranteed to keep your feet tapping."

Admission to Hexham Carnival is free.

Hexham is just off the A69 trunk road, 20 miles west of Newcastle.
The nearest railway station is Hexham, about 10 minutes walk from the park.
