The Marshmallow, Moreton in Marsh in the North Cotswolds is a licensed English restaurant & tea rooms with quite some pedigree! Chef & Owner Alan Cutler has more than 20 years experience in the catering business, having previously worked at a top rated local north Cotswolds hotel, and partner Ann is just behind him! As well as cooking for local Cotswolds clientele & visitors, Alan has had the honour of cooking for HM The Queen on a Royal Tour of India, and The Marshmallow has recently been awarded the prestigious Tea Guild Award for Excellence - only given to the TOP 40 Guild Members in the whole of the UK
Moreton in Marsh is a beautiful mellow Cotswold town, popular with both visitors & locals, and well known for its huge Tuesday market that spreads the length and bread of the town. The Marshmallow English restaurant provides the idea respite from the hustle and bustle of the busy market - its attractive creeper-clad frontage welcomes clients in, and at the back there is an delightful stone flagged courtyard - popular in the summer months.
The groaning cake & sweet trolley is laden with homemade delicacies - scones, mille feuille, chocolate fudge cake & more & as you would expect there is a large range of teas; darjeeling, jasmine, lapsang souchong etc as well as traditional afternoon teas, and of course coffee & creamy hot chocolate too.
BREAKFAST: delicious cotswold bacon & fresh laid eggs; Gloucester Old Spot sausages from Cotswold Pigs; mushrooms, beans - you name it, the Marshmallow serves a scrummy full English Breakfast until 11.30 in the morning (sorry, not Tuesday or Sunday). Irresistable!
LUNCH:The Marshmallow in Moreton in Marsh in the Cotswolds is a delight for those who enjoy quality, fresh, home-prepared English cooking. They have a menu to suit all tastes, from delicious homemade Steak & kidney pie to toasted sandwiches & baguettes; all complemented by a carefully chosen wine list, attractively priced.
EVENING MEALS: A new venture for The Marshmallow and one that is proving extremely popular - as well as their regular lunch menu there is always a specials board featuring seasonal dishes such as as braised shank of Cotswold lamb with rosemary jus - and what can beat local cotswold ham & proper homemade chips!

Fab cream tea here when we visited The Cotswolds on our Christmas break!
I took my mum to The Marshmallow for the first time this weekend (20 Feb 2011) for lunch and was delighted at the level of service and quality of food provided. My mum lives in Suffolk and I don't see her very often, so it is important that the time we spend together is special - The Marshmallow did this.
We have eaten here, as visitors to the area, for the past 3 years and hvae ALWAYS found the food absolutely beautifully cooked and the service effficient and very friendly. Would HIGHLY recommend to friends and family.

Mega baked potatoe with delicious filling (cheese, mushrooms and bacon!) - Marshmallow is definitely worth a 2nd visit & I enjoyed the cappucino so much I had to have another one!

The first tea shop we've ever visited where Russian Caravan is offered on the menu plus an assortment of very tasty (& very naughty) scones. A lovely treat!
