Met here on a friend's recommendation for the Wednesday Steak night - really excellent and the place was packed! Go, but book!
The Crown at Church Enstone is by far the friendliest and welcoming pub / restaurant in the area. The team there are always cheerful and exceptionally attentive. The food is prepared and presented beautifully and is always very tasty. I certainly haven't found anywhere better.
The food is hot, well-presented, tasty and imaginative. There is a very friendly atmosphere and welcome.
The Crown Inn, Enstone is one of the most hospitable, welcoming pubs I have ever been in - and that says much because I have been in lots of pubs the length and breadth of the UK! The welcome is truly warm, the staff are lovely and the food consistently excellent - Whether it be winter, where a glowing fire makes you feel all cozy or a summer evening I would recommend the Crown Inn to anyone wanting a friendly, well run pub without any of the pretensions of other Cotswold stars!
Visited the Crown at Church Enstone on Sunday 15.5.2011 with two friends.Delightful meal, served by a young lady with smile on her face.Good price value for money and when we are this way again will visit again.Tony Northampton.
The Crown Inn, Church Enstone has the best of everything. Great staff, an excellent chef and the most charming landlady! And as for those the other side of the bar? All excellent company making perfect evenings and Sunday lunchtimes!
Decent local pub, which gets the distinction between local drinking establishment with very good restaurant. Have a pint, then eat. Wine list competitively priced. Dinner menu innovative with local produce part of the focus. Asparagus was in season, when we had dinner last weekend. Thoroughly recommend. Parking occasionally a bit of a problem but worth persevering!
The food is always consistently good. We've held family celebrations there, they have done us proud each time. They do good traditional cooking, always acceptable and tasty, none of your undercooked al dente indigestible stuff with a minimum of "pan-wilted" greens and such tosh adorning an oversized plate and charging the earth just because the menu is half in French - like many modern establishments do these days!
My absolute favorite place to eat! From lovely fresh seafood to hearty meat pies to stunning home made desserts- The Crown has something for everyone. Understated and delicious!
Caroline and Tony, who own The Crown in Church Enstone have been the most wonderful landlords of their pub. When they took it over, it was a failing pub/restaurant and the locals were seriously worried that they would lose their only pub in the village. But Caroline and Tony changed all that and some years on, it is a thriving pub with great food and great landlords. We couldn't have survied without them. Great job Caroline and Tony. Love you to bits xxxxx
It's a very nice restaurant which leave us delicious memories for service and fantastic food. The Crown Inn, Church Enstone.
The friendly atmosphere, the flexibility and the consistently high quality of the food all help to make The Crown Inn a favourite place to go for a meal. For me it's full of happy memories.
At all times happy to accommodate the needs of a vegetarian, with interesting alternatives.
My wife and I had a terrific meal here in February 2011. The welcome was warm, as was the real fire!, and the service was first class. The food was excellent (puddings to die for!) and we had a thoroughly good evening.
We visited this hotel in August 2010 on a 6 week tour from Australia. Very friendly locals, very good staff & top ales & the best Steak & Ale pie I had ever eaten. All up - a bloody beauty!!
We had lunch here on 23rd September and it was superb. The wild mushroom fettucini was delicious, as was the hake and cheddar. Service very efficient. Hooky well kept and the cafetiere topped it off nicely. Thanks! Good pud too!
Varied and imaginative menu, outstanding selection of very good wines, beautifully presented in a warm and welcoming ambience.
Great food every time. Rustic charm & dedicated staff. We love it and are so glad it's our local!
A fine dinner at The Crown this week; roast guinea fowl. The Crown is simply one of the best places to eat in Oxfordshire!
Warm welcome, good service, nice wine, comfortable and EXCELLENT food!
My family and I really enjoyed The Crown. The pub had a wonderful setting and the food and service was excellent. I am sure my family will be visiting you again soon. Many thanks!
In my opinion THE CROWN INN is the BEST PUB IN THE UK, the atmosphere is relaxed and the food will transend your expectations. On a snowy winters day you have the warm flickering flames of a fire with a glass of mulled wine. On a summers day you sit in the beautiful garden with a glass of freshly made pimms whilst the sun shines. The welcome you receive is so warm and inviting, and the decor is elegant yet does not retract from a traditional 17th century pub inn feel. If that still doesn't impress you the food will blow you away. All freshly prepared all locally sourced it will have your mouth watering at the very sight of it! It is honest food with a creative twist. Just sensational!!Caroline and Tony .. even strangers know their name, are exceptional hosts and highly skilled in running this very sucessful pub. The CROWN INN SURPASSES all others 100%.
Pretty place, with very friendly and welcoming staff. Food is delicious with the best 'fish and chips' for miles around, according to my husband. The cooking is exceptional with lots of local produce. Excellent wine list too.
Very friendly staff, fabulous atmosphere, magnificent food!
A friendly welcome, good beer and always wonderful food. A proper local!
The Crown has been part of my family's life for many years now - Caroline and Tony are superb hosts, everyone receives a warm and personal welcome. The food is reliably delicious, superbly cooked and seasonal. I'm told the beer is well kept too! The bar is cosy in winter and the garden charming in the summer. But above all it's the people who make the Crown for me, customers and staff. I have never found a better pub and we just keep going back. Thank you Caroline and Tony - you deserve to win and I hope you do. Carol A
Always welcoming, delicious food, and always nice people to talk to!A perfect local! And great to take friends to too.
We have been using the Crown Inn for over 20 years, but since we came to live in Enstone about 6 years ago we have had dinner there nearly every week.We have lived in the area for nearly 30 years and have visited many inns and pubs most of which have eventually deteriorated. The Crown however has been consistently excellent with fish dishes particularly good. It is a most friendly place with really good staff and service benefitting from fine leadership from the owners. The beer is kept properly too.
Great food, a great welcome and a really lovely village pub - I wish I lived in Church Enstone!
Great welcome and splendid food in the most charming surroundings. The epitome of an English pub!
Always great food. Lovely atmosphere. Excellent service. Excellent house wines. Specials list is excellent, well thought through, seasonal and local. We love the Crown Inn!
We were a big group with complicated menu choices, but the evening worked out very well indeed. The food was delicious, the service, with a smile, was very good and the staff were extremely helpful. All in all, I would highly recommend it.
I have known this pub for over 4 years now and always a frinedly welcome and excellent and interesting food
The Crown is the epitome of an english country pub, a fine welcome, excellent beers and a perfectly executed menu.
Great!
I have had many excellent meals and have been fortunate to attend several functions at the Crown at Enstone. I feel that I know the Propriators and staff. I always feel welcome at the Crown. Tonies fish platters are delicious, and always surprising. Charles.
Caroline and Tony took over this pub some years ago when I lived in Church Enstone. I cannot fault them and can only give praise to them for what they have done for the community. The food is excellent, the staff are excellent and so is their friendship towards their customers. They definitely deserve top pub in my opinion, and I am sure many others would agree with me.Sandi Wilson
A great friendly pub which serves fantastic food. The staff are always friendly and helpful. Great variety of drinks. The location is also very good. the pub is warm in the winter and cool in the summer just what the visitor needs. An excellent Establishment. Julian Wa En.
A lovely country pub which has attentive friendly staff and serves the most delicious local produce meals. Always our first choice of where to eat out.
Le menu Coquilles St Jacques et Asperges vertes était Sublime! ainsi que le boudin noir grillé qui l'accompagnait avec une purée délicieuse!Merci au Chef, c'est de la grande cuisine.
A really nice place, good food with a regular varying menu.Nice friendly staff makes going out a pleasure.
This is a wonderful Cotswold Pub and without doubt should be the Winner. We constantly go there and take a lot of friends as well. The best of luck to them and I hope they win.
Tony and Caroline run a fantastic business. Super, fresh food with a good selection of wine and terrific service! Tony's Bacon and Scallop salad is to die for, and no-one can batter a fillet of fish like the Crown. The interior is spotlessly clean, well decorated, and the staff are consistently helpful and smiling. Gets my vote!
I absolutely loved the banoffee pie. It was one of the best things i have ever tasted.xxx
this is what a cotswold pub should be (or any country pub really). friendly service, good quality modern food.
The food is always of good quality using local sources. The chef and his assistant produce regularly changing menus and they have attracted a substantial clientele even though The Crown is not too obviously located. The welcome from Caroline and her staff is always warm. It would be hard to find a more pleasant ambience, inside by the fire in the winter and then in the garden in the summer. Cannot be recommended too highly. Beer is well kept and good for real ale fans. Nice and varied wine list.
