The Three Mughals (formerly The Three Salmons public house) is a spacious and sumptuous air conditioned Indian restaurant where diners can relax and enjoy the widest variety of exotically spiced meals, freshly cooked by their award-winning Master Chef Ataur Rahman (‘coaxed’ from Londons’ West End!) whose culinary skills are set to become part of local legend.
Whilst India endured the invasion and occupation of its lands by a multitude of other nations, including the Mughals, the Turks, the Portugese, the Persians . . . and of course the British, its cuisine could not help but be influenced by the multi-national mix of its various inhabitants.
Since 2009, when the restaurant was officially opened by the High Commissioner of Bangladesh and the Deputy Mayor of Newport (Debbie Wilcox) its reputation for great food and service had steadily grown to such an extent, that now more than 80% of its custom is booked in advance, so as to avoid disappointment. (So we’d recommend that you do the same!)
Open 7-days a week, lunchtimes (noon-2.30pm) and evenings (5.30-11.30pm) and also providing a take-away service, the extensive menu carries an impressive array of ‘Starters,’ Tandoori ‘Sizzlers,’ Set-meals (with vegetarian option,) Traditional Thalis, Main Courses, Chef’s Specials, Vegetarian Dishes, English Dishes, side orders and a multitude of various rice’s, breads and chutneys. Something indeed, to please even the most discerning tastebuds!
