Our very own Radio Station - Just for the community of Newport!
We're now streamlining live from your computer at www.newportcityradio.org - and with a little bit of luck, it won't be too long before we're broadcasting on FM!
Our aim is to provide music, entertainment and reporting on local news and sports. We promote positive messages about OUR CITY!
Listeners will hear about areas of Newport not talked about on any other radio station - and will be encouraged to join in!

Newport City Radio is open to anyone who would like to volunteer and support the station in a research or presentation role. Training will be provided. The majority of our volunteers (who were born or have chosen to live in Newport) are new to broadcasting and have been receiving in-house training on radio skills.
They are helping us celebrate a talented, multicultural Newport City - 'Your City, Your Sound!'

Newport is Wales' third largest City. Since July 2008, Newport City Radio has been providing programmes daily, and contributing in a variety of ways. Online at www.newportcityradio.org we have averaged over 10,000 listeners in a month.
This City prides itself on its live-music heritage, its variety of small and medium-sized businesses and the sporting achievements in Speedway, Rugby and Football. And let's not forget, it's going to be the home of the 2010 Ryder Cup!
Our near neighbours, Cardiff and Bristol, both have strong media presence and support, within and around their cities.
For these reasons - and many more besides - it is vital that Newport has it's own community radio licence! Only a community radio station can give access and a voice to Newport residents - putting Newport first!
Our primary target audience is aged between 14-34 year-olds, however we provide programming of interest to all age groups, across our schedule. We attract listeners to a wide variety of shows from Drum and base and Dubstep, Rock and Grime with Ska, and showcase local artists.
We currently have over 100 volunteers - and we are still looking for more! so if you're interested, get in touch! Opportunities are available to all ages!!!
We aim to support local bands, solo artists, MC's and DJ's - AND local businesses with affordable online and on air advertising!
