Newmarket residents are enjoying a fresh new approach to the festive period with a whole host of new events being organised as part of the town’s countdown to Christmas.

Having already enjoyed lantern-making workshops at the Memorial Hall, locals are sure to love the new Christmas lights on Sun Lane, which have replaced the old, tatty originals.

However, this is nothing in comparison to the Christmas-themed events taking place this December.

Lantern Parade and Newmarket Christmas Lights Switch-On

Come along to Newmarket town centre on Tuesday December 6th and take part in a festive extravaganza, organised by Newmarket Town Council. A lantern parade will start at the Memorial Hall and carry on to the town’s Christmas tree, when the lights will be switched on. The Guineas Shopping Centre will be open until late for Christmas shopping.

Christmas Parties at the Memorial Hall

Two Christmas parties have been organised in December at Newmarket’s Memorial Hall; adults can come along from 2pm until 5pm on Friday December 9th, whilst children are invited on Saturday December 10th 2011 from 11am until 2pm. Tickets are free and can be requested from Newmarket Town Council.
