Are you one of the many Britons planning on giving up smoking in the New Year? Unfortunately, statistics show that out of millions that try, only about 40,000 actually manage to kick the habit.

Don't go it alone - the NHS has a range of FREE stop smoking services that are designed to suit any lifestyle. Not into group counselling? Take advantage of the 'Together Programme' - offering support at critical times in the process through post, email, phone and text.

Other free products and services available from the NHS include:

  • One to one and group sessions
  • Stop Smoking products to help manage those cravings - nicotine patches, gum etc
  • NHS Smoking Helpline - open daily from 7am until 11pm, trained NHS advisers will get you through those difficult moments

Are you planning on quitting in the New Year? Did the free services from the NHS help you give up?

The Best of Newmarket would love to hear about your experiences, thoughts and progress. Good luck all!
