Looking for alternative cinema and film.  Looking for something different to the mainstream cinema experience?

The Star and Shadow cinema is a volunteer organisation run by and for its membership.

We show truly independent films from around the world.  We do not exist to make a profit, our purpose is to provide a facility for programming the types of films and events that do not happen at other film venues around Newcastle.

To use the cinema and bar you will need to be a member which costs £1 a year running from November to November.

Films and video may be submitted for consideration for screening.

There is also a Cafe and Bar area for members which can be hired at very reasonable rates for functions etc..

The cinema is also a venue for local Newcastle besed film makers, artists and musicians.
