MENCAP NORTH EAST- The Uk's leading learning disability Charitable Organisation based in Newcastle City Centre
MENCAP NORTH EAST The Uk's leading learning disability charity In 1946, Judy Fryd – whose daughter Felicity had a learning disability – wrote a letter to Nursery World magazine. She wanted to tell other parents about the lack of care and support available. Judy set up a network, putting parents of children with a disability in touch with each other. This network soon developed and grew into the charitable organisation MENCAP. The Mencap charity is now the leading UK charitable oraganisation working with people with a learning disability, their families and carers. The Mencap charity in the North East, with offices in Newcastle city centre, campaigns on key issues to help ensure that people with a learning disability and their families and carers get equal rights and better opportunities. As a charity we are here to fight for a world where people in the North East with a learning disability are able to: We need your help - donations are very gratefully received or please join in our events! www.mencap.org.uk/northeastevents.
