Jesmond Dene

Jesmond Dene is a beautiful deep sided wooded valley located in Jesmond, just 2 miles from Newcastle city centre.  Owned originally by Sir William Armstrong the land was donated in 1883 to the people of Newcastle as 'a Public Park to be maintained at all time as an oasis of natural beauty within an urban setting'.   Occupying a large area Jesmond Dene provides something for everyone.

For tourists to Newcastle, Jesmond Dene offers a world away from the city centre with plenty of open spaces, lovely walks, waterfalls and wonderful planting of exotic trees and shrubs.

Pet's Corner
Jesmond Dene also offers plenty for children with a very popular 'Pet's Corner'.  Lots of pot bellied pigs, goats and sheep alongside rabbits and colourful birds and somewhere the children love to visit.

Armstrong Bridge Craft Fair
Another popular local and tourist attraction is the Armstrong Bridge Craft Fair which is held every Sunday on the bridge itself overlooking the Dene.  The craft fair starts around 10am and goes on most of the day and local artists sell a wide range of crafts from paintings and jewellery to wooden toys and leather goods.
