The Angel of the North
The iconic Angel of the North (a landmark since 2008) is now visited by over 150,000 visitors a year (and seen by over 90,000 drivers every day) and is now one of Newcastle and Gatesheads most popular tourist attractions.
Designed by Antony Gormley the Angel is located in Gateshead just minutes drive from Newcastle city centre. Made from steel, the Angel stands 66 feet (20 metres) tall, with wings measuring 178 feet (54 metres) across.
How to get to The Angel of the North by car
Located right next to the A1 it isn't easy to miss but you will need to take the slip road marked Wrekenton and Birtley and then A167 to Gateshead South. Parking is available.
