UK Human Beatbox champion Shlomo takes in Arlington Arts on Tuesday 8 February as part of his one man musical mashup tour, using nothing but his mouth, a microphone and a loop sampler.

Mouthtronica is an intense mix of storytelling and high energy genre-hopping human beatboxing. With some help from the audience, this oral magician creates breathtakingly original soundscapes ranging from experimental vocal acrobatics to jaw-dropping one-man renditions of classic tunes we all love.

Shlomo is one of the world’s finest human beatboxers, known for his experimental collaborations with a diverse range of artists such as DJ Yoda, Bjork, Martha Wainwright, Hexstatic, Portico Quartet, Jarvis Cocker, Mad Professor and his awesome beatbox troupe The Vocal Orchestra.

His skills with his loop sampler are breathtaking and on 15 January 2011 he was crowned World Loopstation Champion in LA.

Through Mouthtronica, Shlomo tells the unique story of how he became a beatboxer going right back to when he was 3 years old playing Arabic drums and belly dancing at his Iraqi-Jewish grandmother's parties.

Shlomo’s musical story takes in his training in classical percussion and jazz drums, to studying Astrophysics to beatboxing with Bjork and on the Jools Holland show. He is now an artist in residence at London’s Southbank Centre.

Shlomo is keen on using beatboxing as an educational tool, and will be running a beatboxing masterclass at 5.30pm.

Tickets, priced £12 (£10 masterclass, £15 both) are available from the Box Office on 01635 244246 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting              01635 244246      end_of_the_skype_highlighting, online via www.arlingtonarts.co.uk and from Mary Hare Hearing Centre, Weaver’s Walk, Newbury.

All profits from Arlington Arts Centre go to Mary Hare, so by buying tickets for this performance, audiences are also directly supporting a national charity for deaf children and young people.
