Fir Tree Cottage Bed and Breakfast near Newark offers a comfortable and relaxing stay. Whether you're away on business or leisure, why stay in a dreary, roadside motel, when you can stay in a beautiful, country cottage, set in in its own grounds?
Situated on the edge of a pretty village, just minutes from Newark, Fir Tree Cottage is just what you'd expect from an English country cottage. The accommodation is in charming, comfortable rooms, each with its own bathroom refurbished with love and to the highest of standards. The picturesque gardens are full of colourful, flower-filled borders - perfect for a summer's evening stroll, or to sit and relax with a good book. In winter, you can warm yourself in front of a cosy, roaring fire, enjoying as many cups of tea as you desire.
Beautifully appointed and furnished accommodation
Fir Tree Cottage currently offers two, special en-suite double rooms to choose from. The larger 'Gainsborough' room has a wonderful, king-size bed and large en-suite bathroom. Ideal for an indulgent break with someone special, or just for spoiling yourself! It has French doors which open onto a wide balcony with panoramic views of the stunning, extensive gardens and surrounding countryside. The 'Winthorpe' room has a comfy double bed and a surprise - the exclusive use of a private roof terrace for meals and relaxation. Both rooms have been recently refurbished to a high standard and each offers an en-suite bathroom.
Delicious breakfast and dinner
At Fir Tree Cottage, all of the food is locally sourced and of the highest quality. As well as the inclusive hearty breakfast, tasty evening meals can be arranged in advance. And, within walking distance, there are three village pubs, all of which serve lunches and evening meals.
Alternatively, Newark itself is just a short drive away, with an outstanding selection of restaurants, cafés and pubs.
Fir Tree Cottage is currently unlicensed, but guests are welcome to bring their own wine to accompany evening meals. There are no corking or storage charges for this.
Ideal location
Fir Tree Cottage B&B is perfectly positioned close to Newark on Trent (an antique and collectible hunters paradise) and Lincoln, within easy reach of Nottingham, by road or rail. The cottage is in the centre of the country, with excellent road,rail and air links. There are a large number of attractions in this region, such as Lincoln with its beautiful, mediaeval buildings and magnificent Cathedral, historic Newark on Trent, and the peaceful Minster town of Southwell.
The A1, linking the North and South of the country is just five minutes away from Fir Tree Cottage, although you'd never know it! Travelling by train? No problem. The East Coast Mainline from nearby Newark can take you to and from King's Cross and St Pancras International in the heart of London in less than 90 minutes. You can even be picked up at the station!
The Cottage nestles within its own extensive gardens opposite the Village Cricket ground on the edge of the Award Winning Village of Collingham close to the Conservation area's picturesque village green. It is a short stroll to the nearest pub, the King's Head and village centre.
Fir Tree Cottage is just four minutes away from Newark, and Notts Showground, home to Europe's biggest Antiques fair and many other prestigious exhibitions and events. Sherwood Forest is less than thirty minutes away.
