Monmouth's Savoy Youth Theatre has received a regional nomination from NODA for best youth theatre performance following their work with another company in It's A Musical World. The National Operatic and Dramatic Association (NODA) is an organisation that aims to help amateur theatre groups to achieve the highest standards in performance and practice.

It was after the great success of the outdoor performances of
A Midsummers Night Dream this summer, adapted and directed by Sam Densham, that they started rehearsing for the next show. Savoy Youth Theatre are delighted to hear about the nomination 'we could not be more pleased' said Rhi Shaw-Penman, assistant director, on hearing the news. Some of the Youth Theatre members are now taking part in the professional production of Aladdin, at Monmouth Savoy Theatre this Christmas. To secure their roles the members of the youth theatre had to face auditions. Thom Shaw-Penman, who has been part of the Youth Theatre since the age of 13, has progressed to a speaking part alongside professional performers.

Savoy Youth Theatre has been busy in production this week with school performances which have resulted in a growing number of applicants in children wanting to join it! You can see the Savoy Youth Theatre in action yourselves in the pantomime (written and directed by Sam Densham) at the Savoy from 28th- 21
st
December.
