I love to buy local and I am!

I am not having a go at supermarkets, one of the beauties of Monmouth is that national brands and independents sit side by side but in this buy local week I thought it would be fun to see whether I can manage entirely on independent shops. So here goes!

Hancocks for barbeque ready burgers and ribs, try the Chinese marinade, scrumptious.

Munday and Jones in Church street for locally grown rocket, fresh eggs and local goats cheese, English asparagus, local strawberries, smell and taste the difference.

Wigmores for bread and a Tuesday treat of bread pudding.

Pocket bakery for cakes for tea.

No18 for a healthy takeaway salad for lunch.

Renew my car insurance – Archenfield beat my online quote.

N68 for a coffee in the sunshine, their menu is so tempting, pea and ricotta hoummus is delicious , and on a sunny day a locally produced ice cream is too tempting to resist.

Party to go to next weekend-  make sure I book an appointment with Hair and Beauty and then sure to look my best!

A new pair of shoes- it has to be Envee.

Bojangles have some stunning bags and jewellery that won’t break the bank.

Pension advice- never too young to start saving - Celandine in Beaufort Arms Square will help.

Friends looking to move to this lovely area- independent estate agents Roscoe, Rogers and Knight, I found my current house through them.

The Savoy- for the best value cinema tickets and an atmosphere that knocks the socks off any Cine world!

A bottle of wine to accompany the BBQ- has to be local from Fingal’s Rock and I can get some honey too.

Birthday present for my mum- flowers from Emma Webster and a card from Tidings, the best selection around.
