Aladdin Treasure Trail
18th November 2013

Today the characters of Aladdin (members of Savoy Youth Theatre) took over the top of Monmouth town. They could be found in various participating shops and venues, helping children on their quest to find the magic lamp: a race against the threat of villanous Abanazar.

The trail lead the children from Shire Hall to DS Music, from there they were given clues to the next location and then the next (including: the Pocket Bakery, Granny Browns, Peace of Stone, Sew at Home, Monday & Jones, Stephens book shop, Rossitors and The Savoy Theatre).

In the Savoy the children had to find the correct seat numbers to make up the words of the next clue, leading them to the lamps location: THE DUNGEONS (in Shire Hall).

By the time the children reached the Savoy, excitement levels were high: the thrill of nearly catching Abanazar sent them racing to find the dungeons where they met one of the Youth Theatre members who dared them to rub the lamp to gain freedom and sent the happy children away with goodie bags.

The winner was the child who completed the treasure hunt in the quickest time, the prize being tickets to see Aladdin at the Savoy this Christmas!
For everyone else not to worry, you can get tickets for Aladdin from the Savoy or online at

Next weekend there will be a tea party put on by the Youth Theatre and cast of Aladdin so don't miss it. Entry is only £2 and it takes place at 2pm. Amongst other fun and games there will be cakes, facepainting and arts & crafts. Watch this blog for more information.
