Martyna was already an established artist on the acoustic music scene when she heard a Nina Simone recording that became a turning point in her musical career. Having just completed the Leverhulme Artist Development programme (a scholarship awarded to only five people in the country and administered by The Stables) Martyna sat down at her piano and began to write her first jazz song. Her debut jazz release is expected in 2009, and she will be performing original material alongside classic standards.
