Paris Comes to Woburn

My wife Julie and I were very lucky to be treated by our wonderful family to an evening at the Paris House restaurant in Woburn this weekend. This was not just a meal out, it was a gastronomic experience. From the moment you turn off the main road and go through the main arch and up long drive flanked on both sides by the wild deer, you know this will be a quality evening.

We were warmly welcomed on arrival and whilst perusing the menu served delicious canapés, and given a short history of the building. In 1878 The Duke of Bedford fell in love with the building when he saw it as part of the Paris international exhibition, and had it dismantled and rebuilt in his grounds in Woburn.

We opted for the 8 course Taster menu, and as each course was served we were given a full description of what we going to be eating and how it had been prepared, the waiting staff clearly have a passion for what they do. Not being the most adventurous when it comes to food I have to admit I was a little apprehensive, but there was no need to worry and each course was presented in a different way making it interesting and extremely tasty.  Our waiter accurately summed the experience at the end of our meal when he said that this was "food theatre".

If you want to treat yourself give it a try, and thanks again to our family for this brilliant experience.
