Music Scene in Milton Keynes

Ok, so your after music in the Milton Keynes area, your bored, and want to see some live music, well let me tell you, your not far from a very rich and talented music scene!

Milton Keynes has so many styles of music to offer it's audiences at a variety of different venues.

In terms of Classical Music, the Milton Keynes Theatre, run by the "Ambassador's Theatre Company", who also own several theatre in the West End, is probably the best place for it, at the end of each month, the Milton Keynes City Orchestra, usually conducted by Hillary Daven Wetton or Sian Edwards play a selection of pieces suited to the current season. The theatre also stages touring productions of Opera's (either the Welsh National Opera or Glyndebourne) and also ballet's are performed frequently.

If your more into Jazz, soul and blues The Stables is the place for you, the venue is owned by the great Jazz Musician John Dankworth, and the legendary singer Cleo Laine, who always present a programme of brilliant artists! They also have many comedians use the stage-  The Stables is located just outside Milton Keynes, 10 minutes from the City Centre, in Wavendon.

For the younger generation, The Pitz Club run by Promoter Paul Rivers is a great place to see rock and heavy metal bands, many of the younger musicians in Milton Keynes are in bands that play at the venue all the time! Many successful artists and bands started their days performing at the Pitz Club and many upcoming acts still perform there now!

Other venues you may want to check out;

MADCAP Theatre, Wolverton-  A variety of acts take place in the 200 seat theatre in Wolverton- www.mapcap.org.uk

Stantonbury Theatre, Stantonbury Campus- Mostly used for Dance shows and Musicals staged by local theatre groups (Will post reviews, when I have been to see them)

Chrysalis Theatre, Willen - Also used mostly for Musicals staged by local theatre groups. In my opinion, this is the most beautiful theatre in Milton Keynes.

So, the idea is that I will go and review some shows and concerts, and then report back, and perhaps encourage you to go or not as the case may be? Urm, I will also report on things that are happen musically in Milton Keynes, and talk on cultural aspects of the city! Thanks for reading!

Interesting and valuable post. At the risk of being pedantic - it's "you're" not "your" in the context of your first sentence in the post. report abuse...
