With not one but TWO beaches to open in MK this summer, the city is set to become the country’s newest summer resort! Xscape, who are hosting their 4th annual beach for family fun this summer are also sponsoring thecentre:mk’s new beach which will transform Middleton Hall into a seaside wonderland from 22 July to 2 September.
The sponsorship deal, which sees the city’s two main retail and leisure destinations come together, demonstrates how the businesses work together to promote MK further afield.
“Despite being 2 hours from the coast Milton Keynes really will be the ultimate beach destination this summer,” commented Jackie Tracey, Events Manager for thecentre:mk. “Combining the facilities of thecentre:mk and Xscape, visitors will be able to enjoy a day at the seaside, some serious retail therapy and if you’re more adventurous, a quick skydive finishing with an evening’s snowboarding! There aren’t many leisure destinations in the UK which can offer this variety within a five minute walk.”
thecentre:mk will celebrate its 30th Birthday in great British sea-side style, 100 tons of sand which will be shipped in to Middleton Hall to create, what is hoped to be, the largest indoor beach in the UK. There will also be a 60 foot galleon with interactive “Captain Jack” 3-D show, a lighthouse helter skelter, a carousel, 30 foot high coconut trees to climb and sandcastles to build.
Xscape will also be hosting a beach from 27 July complete with a plane to get you there and on-board entertainment! The three week long holiday will also feature special one-off beach parties hosted by Heart FM, including cocktail flaring demonstrations and live performances from the stars of Britain’s Got Talent!
Xscape’s Creative Director, Robert Warner said “It is fantastic that we have been able to work closely with thecentre:mk this Summer – as the two leading destinations in the region, we’ll make Milton Keynes the place to be this Summer. We hope to welcome an extra 50,000 guests to Xscape’s event, and so working together with thecentre:mk should mean even more than that for the city as a whole.”
So at either venue you are sure to have a great summer whatever the weather - right here in MK!
