What are your New Year Resolutions

PEOPLE save for Christmas all year but they often end up paying for it with their waistlines.

Those juicy slices of turkey with lashings of thick gravy and bread and cranberry sauce, Christmas pudding with custard or banana mousse made with rich double cream. It all takes its toll.

Climb on to the scales in the New Year and many people just can’t believe how much weight they’ve put on. Maybe those liqueur chocolates really were fattening!

Whatever the sin, the result can’t be hidden because waistlines bulge for all to see, so what can you do about it?

Many people make a New Year’s resolution to lose weight but it can be difficult to sustain this enthusiasm, maintain weight loss and do it in a fashion that doesn’t cause more harm than good.

That is where places such as the Personal Training Company and the Quad Club in Marlow are worth their weight in gold with effective guidance on personal health, fitness and beauty just at the time of year when you need it most.

Not all New Year resolutions are geared to losing pounds and looking beautiful and the most frequent resolution is actually to spend more time with family and friends.

Giving up smoking and trying to enjoy life more are another two favourites although kicking the tobacco habit is something every health service in the country is in favour of. There are even numerous health centres to help you do so.

Still with the quitting theme comes giving up alcohol and spending less to get yourself out of debt.

Lower down the resolution order but no less laudable are a determination to help others or learn something new, but one of the best has to be getting your life more organized.

That one can benefit almost everyone not least through making better use of what space you have. Take the garden shed for instance.

Are you fed up with all the clutter inside which makes trying to find a trowel, secateurs or some plant food an absolute nightmare? Well do something about it by tidying the shed up. Who knows what you might find!

And being organized inside the house is an absolute must particularly if you have children, so a bit of New Year neatness and order will benefit you there as well.

It’s up to you what resolution you choose but don’t over-reach yourself. Tackle something you feel you stand a chance of completing and, if you feel you need a bit of help, don’t be frightened to ask the experts in whatever area you are considering.
