Restoring Marlow Bridge back to its former glory

Phase one of a project to restore Marlow Bridge back to its former glory has been completed by Transport for Buckinghamshire.

The repair work which is being jointly funded with the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, was carried out over a period of four months, and included replacing, painting and cleaning timber and aesthetics on the upstream side of the bridge.

Phase two of the project will commence in spring 2011, and involve the restoration of the downstream section. In addition, Transport for Buckinghamshire will be repainting the white lines and upgrading road signs on and around the bridge.

Valerie Letheren, Buckinghamshire County Council's Cabinet Member for Transport said: "It is really good to see Marlow Bridge having this face lift.  This bridge is one the main landmarks of Buckinghamshire.  With phase one complete we can look forward to next spring when phase two will be completed and the bridge is back to its former glory.”
