Dating back to the 17th century, the elegant four AA red star hotel takes its name from Isaak Walton’s world-famous book on angling. On arrival at Bowaters you can enjoy a welcoming a glass of sparkling wine and canapés to the gentle sounds of the hotel’s resident pianist. The mouth-watering four-course lunch, created by Head Chef David Smith, starts with a choice of a salmon gateau or a terrine of Gressingham duck followed by beef consommé. For mains you can choose from traditional roast turkey or fillet of brill, while for afters there’s Christmas pudding or lemon tart. Vegetarian options are also available for every course.
Priced at £109 per person, Christmas Day lunch in Bowaters will be served in two sittings starting at 12noon and 3.30pm. All children under 12 will receive a personalised gift from Santa – names and ages of youngsters in each party will be requested when booking.
For Christmas Day Aubergine is offering a sumptuous five-course feast sure to keep you at the table well into the afternoon. The fine dining experience begins with a glass of champagne followed by two starters - lobster tortellini and seared foie gras served with black pudding (optional) and caramelised apple. For mains you can choose from roasted turkey stuffed with chestnut and truffles plus all the trimmings and Madeira jus or roast rib of beef with fresh horseradish and Yorkshire puddings. Next comes a selection of cheeses and Christmas pudding served with Armagnac butter and sauce anglaise, or a buche de Noël. After coffee and mince pies you can relax in the hotel lounge or take a gentle stroll by the river. This exquisite menu is priced at £145 per person.
