The Olympic Torch Relay route has been planned so that the Flame will come within ten miles of 95 percent of people in the UK.
Featuring 8,000 small cut-out circles, representing the 8,000 inspirational people who will carry it on its journey around the UK, the 2012 Olympic Torch is designed to reflect the Gold Fever message of these Games. The gold colour embraces the qualities of the Olympic Flame – the brightness and the warmth of the light that it shines
The torch will be travelling through the Manchester region over the weekend of 23rd and 24th June, with an Olympic Torch Celebration to be held in the City Centre on the Saturday night. No further details have been released as yet, but thebestof Manchester will keep an eye out and keep you updated on here.
You can spread Gold fever along the route by planning your own 'Line the Streets' Event. Either use your imagination or Sign up to become a Local Leader via the London 2012 website and receive updates with hints and tips and promotional materials, including posters and decoration ideas.
And we do get a little bit of the sporting action with the Football tournament at Old Trafford on the 26th July through to the 7th August, featuring both the men's and women's preliminaries, quarter and semi finals and tickets would appear to still be available through the website.
There's no doubt that this year's Olympics are destined to go down in the UK's sporting history books so grab yourself a piece of the action and find out all you could possibly need to know via the London 2012 website.
