The hugely popular Christmas Markets return to Manchester on the 17th November, hosting traders from all over Europe and spread over no less than eight sites across the city centre.

The chalet lined streets once again promise the chance to sample traditional Christmas fayre from all over Europe, whilst you shop for a gift with a difference, stop occasionally for a glass of warming mulled wine, liqueur coffee or hot chocolate.  Or try a German or Spanish beer or classic French wine.

Gather with friends in an atmosphere laden with excitement and goodwill.  There's an array of food on offer to suit everyone. Dutch pancakes, Hungarian Goulash, Spanish Paella, French profiteroles...and a good old British hog roast with ale!

The stallholders are friendly and full of advice, offering unusual gifts from all continents, fine amber jewellery, handcrafted leather bags and purses, quality bonsai trees and Christmas wreaths (last year, as we were looking, a tiny mouse popped out!)

The markets are yet another example of how, no matter how hi-tech and modern the world we live in...Christmas is a time to slow down, kick back and embrace the traditions of a simpler lifestyle.
