18th November 2011 sees the Open Air Ice Rink return to Spinningfields.
Picture yourself skating under the twinkling lights of Christmas, festive music playing gently in the background as you produce your best Torville and Dean routine. Ok, the reality may be a bit more down to earth with a bump, but there's no escaping the fact that no matter what your skill level, ice skating under the night sky screams 'Christmas' at the top of its voice.
Situated in Hardman Square just off Deansgate, the rink will be open seven days a week from 10am until 11pm. With a surface able to host over 200 skaters per hour there will be plenty of time and room for everyone. And being conscious of our current belt tightening situation, prices have been frozen for 2011, and there are special rates for students, groups and schools schemes.
And when you've worn yourself out, sustained a couple of strategically placed bruises and realised you're possibly not as young as you used to be, what better way of resting those weary bones and warming up those frozen toes than sinking into a comfy sofa and sipping on mulled wine, spiced cider or a hot cocktail?
Choose from a menu of wholesome, seasonal food in front of a log fire or watch the skating action from the deck, all provided by this years' new addition of the Moose Bar - a log cabin styled pop up bar providing a warm and seasonal atmosphere, live music and the perfect environment for both social and corporate gatherings. Children are also catered for with hot chocolate, juices and sweeties!
