About the Museum

Malvern Museum is located in what was the gatehouse to Great Malverns Benedictine Priory dating back to c1480.

The building has been restored, extended and made into, what is now, an interesting and educational place to visit.

There are five themed rooms within Malvern Museum:

The Medieval Room

Here you will welcomed by a monk dressed in a Benedictine habit. This room presents Malverns History during the Medieval Period from 1085 to c.1540.

The Victorian Room

This room shows the growth of Malvern from a village to town during the reign of Queen Victoria. During this time it became a health resort with the arrival of the water cure.

The 20th Century Room

This room presents Malvern's more recent history

The Malvern Hills Room

Here you will see the story of the Malvern Hill. They were formed in the Pre-Cambrian Age between 600 and 1000 million years ago and the main rock is Granite with many fossils hidden within the hills.
