Pancake Day is on Tuesday the 8th of March 2011. Here's a link to some history information on Shrove Tuesday. The BBC Good Food website has loads of pancake recipes, but we'll be making American pancakes on Tuesday in this household. I do like flat British pancakes, but they're like crepes to me, which is more of a dessert.
The BBC Good Food website has a good American style pancakes recipe if you're interested. The only alterations I'd make using this recipe would be to use 2 teaspoons of baking powder instead of 1 and to whip the batter for longer. The best American pancakes are fluffy pancakes and the added baking powder plus whipping will lighten up the batter and make the pancakes rise more in the pan.
