SWIM-Second Wednesday In Maidenhead. A great opportunity to meet up with fellow Maidenhead business owners once a month in the centre of MAidenhead. Come along for a chat, drink and some nibbles.
We began SWIM with the intent of reviving and increasing the level of communication between members of the business community in Maidenhead and surrounding area. Put simply we wanted to be able to walk down the High Street in Maidenhead and be able to put names to the faces we met. Hence SWIM-Second Wednesday In Maidenhead. We meet every second Wednesday of the month at the Ivory Lounge in King Street from 12.20pm onwards.
Almost as a reaction to the plethora of highly structured weekly early morning business clubs we set out to be as informal as possible. We meet monthly at a lunchtime in the middle of Maidenhead. There is a flat fee of £10 per session which covers the first drink and a buffet. There are no rules for joining ; no exclusions or limitations as to attendance ; no speeches, presentations or "One Minute Slots". Just informal networking with local business owners.
We just want people to come and meet, talk and exchange cards and then conduct the true networking in later private meetings.
Heath Buckeridge and Faust Loveday Bell have been delighted with the response and support we have had for the venture. We average between 30 and 50 attendees (except at times of deep snow ) who come regularly from Henley, Windsor, Reading, Wokingham and the Tames Valley generally.
Our challenge is to extend SWIM 's range of offerings and to seek to avoid the common fate of Business Clubs of hijack or apathy. We are pretty confident that we can meet these challenges.
