A quick google search under "Crown Bray" has yielded pages of results. Obviously other blog writers see the value in having keywords Heston Blumenthal and Bray as a way of generating traffic.
Heston Blumenthal has caused concern by buying the Crown in Bray to add to his other establishments in the village. He already owns the well-known Fat Duck and the only other pub in the village, The Hinds Head. People are concerned he will do for Bray what Rick Stein has done in Padstow. This is meant to be a warning of bad things to come. However from what I can see from years of visiting Cornwall is that it has vastly increased visitors to the seaside port as well as forcing the hospitality trade in the County to raise its game.
While I share concerns that choice of where to drink has gone from Bray and that Heston may well take it upmarket ie increase prices. Why was the pub sold in the first place? Pubs are closing at a rate of 39 a week. The pub trade is in crisis as a number of factors force them to close their doors. How many people belly-aching about the loss of The Crown in Bray actually used it? At least it will remain open and not be boarded up and left to deterioate.
