Resonate Coaching-An Article By Robert Webb
If there is a possibility that you could be made redundant in the future, it is important that you start thinking on what you are going to do next if you are undecided. If you leave it until you have left the company, and then start deciding on what you want to do next, then you would have wasted valuable time. When you start considering your next move, it is important to note that for your life to be balanced your career must be aligned with who you are as a person or otherwise you will be unhappy with work, underachieve and your work/life balance will be out of kilter. Also if you try to pursue a career path that is at odds with your values/beliefs and your way of seeing the world, then you will be constantly struggling and under a great deal of stress and pressure.
First of all, you need to consider what kind of career options there are in order to meet your own goals if you have any. The following questions are useful to ask yourself at this particular stage:
What do you really really want to do?
What would you do if you didn’t care what other people thought?
What would you do if you couldn’t fail?
What if you had no limits?
If we met in 3 or 5 years time, what would have had to happen personally and professionally for you to be happy with your progress?
Tomorrow, you start your dream job, what would it be?
What kinds of people and their work that you look at and thought ‘I wish I could do what they do ?
In addition to the above questions, ask yourself: “what is stopping me in finding something that I want to do which will improve my work/life balance situation?”.
