Maidenhead and the Snow

Abnormal weather disruption.

What an perverse people we are.  We long for it to snow every Winter especially at Christmas and then when it does we last a day with enough time to sledge, make snowmen and play snowballs and then we want it to go away so we can carry on with our lives.   This week's second lot of heavy snow- the most I've ever seen, has played havoc with people's plans to get back to normal.  Life is particularly difficult as it seems councils are reluctant or don't have the funds to spend on clearing and gritting all roads.  The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead says on it's website that all primary and secondary routes were gritted through the night and snow ploughs were fitted to gritting lorries on Tuesday morning to clear routes.

A casualty of the weather is the Model railway Exhibition due to be held on Saturday at the Cox Green Community Centre has been cancelled.  The attached school is closed so the exhibition can't be set up.

If you are so inclined you could try getting away from the grim conditions by contacting Tony Sheldon Travel to arrange a break somewhere warmer and sunnier.

What do you think, have you had to make other arrangements for your children because the schools are closed?  Are you "working from home" Have you tried to go out but been prevented from doing so by treacherous roads and pavements?
