You may be using them but haven't seen any advantage to your business as yet. At thebestofmaidenhead we have been actively using social media and in particular Twitter for over a year now and it has been a big success for us as a business but more importantly for our members.
Every time a new business joins thebestofmaidenhead or sends us a Special Offer it generates a Tweet. Uploading a new blog does the same which is why you may have arrived at this article. In addition we supplement these tweets with our own, spotlighting our members & just interacting with other people on Twitter. We also follow bestofmaidenhead members and like their facebook pages.
Our business is getting to know business and because we meet with a business before they become a member we get to know them. So a couple of weeks ago when someone asked for a plumber in Maidenhead we were happy to recommend K and L Heating. This week someone was looking for a photographer and we recommended Tim Hodges Photography.
The key to Social media is to interact and to do so regularly. Listen to what other people are saying and reply if you have something to say. Retweet interesting links and let people get to know you. Sounds hard but it's surprising what comes across form regular users in so few words.
