Francesca, 22, is hiking to the Everest base camp this June, hoping to raise thousands of pounds for Childreach International, a charity working to improve children’s access to healthcare, education and human rights in the developing world. The hike takes 19 days and will include altitude acclimatisation for the walkers.

Hinckley & Rugby chief executive Chris White said: “Francesca has set herself a tough but exciting challenge, and for a good cause. We are very pleased to help her on her way.”

Francesca, who graduates from her degree in textiles at Nottingham University in June, said: “The trek will include visiting a Childreach project in Kathmandu so we can see the kind of initiative the money we raise will be used for.

“My parents are customers of Hinckley & Rugby so I thought I’d see if there was any way the Society could help me. It was great they said they could and now I have some excellent boots to walk in.”
