The committee of the 6th Santa Fun Run (held on 30th November ’14) presented cheques to its nominated charities at the One Stop Shop in Gilmorton Road, Lutterworth on Thursday 26th March.
Just over £11,000 was raised in total making over £79,000 distributed over the past 6 years.
The major donations made were:-
The Air Ambulance (Derby, Leics. And Rutland - £1,700
Coping with Cancer (Leics. and Rutland - £1,350
Samaritans (Leicester) - £1,280
Lutterworth Community Responders - £1,250
Lutterworth Town Mayors Appeal - £1,320
Rotary Charities - £1,000
Plus the additional organisations who entered to raise funds on their own behalf:-
3rd Braunstone Brownies, (ASD) - £300
Age Concern Lutterworth - £320
Enterprise Centre - £120
Sir Frank Whittle Studio School - £210
Sherrier C of E Primary School - £290
Rainbows Hospice (CML Magna Park) - £1,470
Plus £730 previously distributed
As John Turner (the event co-ordinator) said at the presentation we were delighted to have achieved 1,006 runners for the first time since the event has run and hope to maintain and even exceed this figure on Sunday 29th November this year – so please make a date in your diaries for our next Fun Run.
