2 Hours FREE Car Parking in Lutterworth starts today

A new scheme has been launched today by a group of Lutterworth Chamber of Trade's retailers to provide 2 hours of FREE car parking to shoppers who visit the town centre.

The group were concerned that too many people were trying to cram their shopping in the town centre into the one hour free parking provided in Harborough District Council's car parks. This has meant that shoppers didn't have time to relax and browse the many interesting stores in the town and had to worry about getting back to their car within 60 minutes or face a penalty ticket.

Now, visitors are warmly invited to spend a little more time in the town discovering the wide range of products on offer from the indepedent retailers and, with a spend of £5 in any of the participating outlets, the 50p car park charge for the second hour will be refunded.

The District Council will be changing the ticket machines in the car parks by the end of this month, to provide a refund slip in order to claim back the 50p. However, the retailers have decided to go ahead and launch the scheme with an interim procedure whereby visitors should keep their ticket from one visit until the next, and use that to claim the refund.

27 of the town's retailers are taking part in the scheme (see below) so there is enough choice for everyone who visits to benefit from it - look out for window stickers with the car logo above to see where you can claim back your 50p.

Perfect timing for Christmas shopping! Give the packed out large shopping centres a miss, and come and enjoy Lutterworth town centre instead!
