A local company is offering a free service to people who are unable to walk to their polling station for the General Election on Thursday 6th May. Carnoisseur, a car leasing company based in Dunstable, is providing lifts for elderly voters and others who would need a car to get out to vote.
The idea was sparked by a meeting of young entrepreneurs Paul Mayhew, owner and Chief Executive of Carnoisseur Leasing Dunstable and Joe Hall, independent candidate for Luton South – both 30 years old.
Mayhew will be personally ferrying people on polling day. He said: “It’s not easy for everyone to get out to vote and this is a great way to make use of our fleet of cars. We’re a local company and we want to give back to the community. Whoever you plan to vote for, we’re happy to help you get out and take part in the election.”
Joe Hall added: “It’s incredibly important that local people vote – it will make a big difference to the future of our country and our town. Whether you walk, drive or cycle I want you to have your say on May 6th!”
To arrange a lift to your polling station on 6th May, please call Carnoisseur Leasing on 01582 690 262 by Wednesday 5th. They will arrange a time for a car to pick you up and they will also bring you home again. Alternatively please write to Paul Mayhew at Carnoisseur Leasing, Shop 5 Brittany Court, High Street South, Dunstable, LU6 3HR. The service is free of charge.
