The only Charitable Organisation dedicated to the fight against lung cancer in the whole world, based in Liverpool.
The Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation is based on London Road in the city centre of Liverpool and is the only charitable organisation in Liverpool and the UK wholly dedicated to defeating lung cancer.
Lung cancer is the biggest cancer killer in the UK, yet less than 4% of cancer research funding is directed in this area. The Foundation concentrates its activities in the following three areas:
- Lung Cancer Research
- Patient Care and Support
- Tobacco Control, including Quitting Smoking and our educational programmes for young people.
We are a charitable organisation that raise money in a variety of ways. We work with companies in Liverpool and throughout the UK to encourage employee fundraising, whether it be on an adhoc basis or part of a Charity of the Year partnership. We also work with companies to gain sponsorship for literature and events etc. We have a large number of community fundraisers who support us by running local races (10k's, half marathons, London Marathon) or by taking part in other sponsored events. We receive support from people who make in-memoriam donations to remember loved ones, or from those who leave a legacy in their will. In addition to this, the Foundation has 5 charity shops in the Merseyside area one of which is based on Allerton Road in south Liverpool. We are constantly looking for donated stock to replenish the shelves in our shops and are keen to recruit volunteers to help out.
