Steven Gerrard to Miss Crucial Games for Liverpool

Liverpool Football Club have announced that Steven Gerrard has undergone surgery after playing the full ninety minutes against Manchester United on Sunday.  After meeting with a groin specialist it was decided that surgery was needed.  The operation was successful but in order to recover fully Gerrard will need to have one month away from the game.

Fears have grown for the future of Liverpool’s position in the Europa League Campaign and the European Championship qualifier.  Gerrard will miss out on the friendly match against Ghana on March 29th, and England’s Euro qualifier against Wales on March 26th.  He will also be unable to play in league matches against Sunderland and West Bromwich Albion.

Gerrard is hoping that he will be fit to play on April 11th when Manchester City comes to Anfield.
