BASC Northern Ireland is organising a Taste of Game Dinner on 17th November as part of BASC's Taste of Game week celebrations. The dinner is being hosted by The Pheasant, Bar & Restaurant, near Lisburn.
BASC's promotion of game has focused on the practical side of enjoying eating game and trying out new quarry species and recipes. Taste of Game Week is an initiative designed by BASC to encourage those who shoot to promote game to a wide range of audiences.
As the UK's largest shooting organisation, BASC is committed to promoting and protecting sporting shooting and the well-being of the countryside. The Association has been promoting game as healthy and highly nutritious food since its first recipe books were produced more than a generation ago.
Nearly a century after it was founded, BASC still advocates the maxim “In sport, only shoot what you are prepared to eat - It is beholden on us all to make sure that nothing we shoot is wasted.”
A feast of delights awaits diners at The Pheasant who, after their complimentary reception drink, will take their seats to enjoy a four–course dining experience that will include roast partridge, a gamekeepers duo of venison and pigeon, finishing with a Bramley apple tart tatin served with sloe gin ice-cream and a mulled wine glaze!
