This year the Lichfield Festival has a wider appeal than ever with over 80 events taking place over the ten days. Full orchestras to solo performers, veterans to young newcomers can all be seen.
Among the biggest names performing is Dame Felicity Lott whose pure soprano voice will fill Lichfield Cathedral on Sunday 10th July. Or, for a very different sound, on 13th July two brass band traditions come together, one being the award winning Foden's Richardson Band in fine English style, and the other are the Bollywood Brass Band who are specialists in Asian party music.
These are just 2 of the events to pick from which include Sir Willard White, the Halle Orchestra, Clare Teal, Jenny Eclair, John Sergeant, the Chetham's School Symphony Orchestra, Kit and the Widow, Dame Gillian Weir, a series of films, a folk music weekend, a Bach in the Dark series of late night candlelit concerts and some wonderful exhibitions of paintings, sculpture, textiles and ceramics.
