After an estimated 10 000 people visited the show in 2004, this years event is set to be even bigger and is now one of the largest of its kind in the Midlands. Close to 1000 classic cars will appear, including nearly fifty car clubs. There will also be 12 main dealers, and numerous trade and charity stalls.
Held in Lichfield's Beacon Park there is an arena which puts on events, parades and displays during both days. For the real enthusiasts there is a Concours d'Elegance on the Sunday.
2005 is the centenary of Rotary and to commemorate this achievement at Cars in the Park 2005 the Rotary Club of Lichfield St Chad are putting on a feature parade of cars and other vehicles that are also 100 years old.
Adding further interest this year, for the first time the Rotary Club of Lichfield St Chad will be holding a FREE Music in the Park concert on the night of Saturday 2 July. Commencing at 7.00pm the Rugeley Brass Band will be playing a concert primarily of 1940s music to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the ending of the war.
The concert is scheduled to end at approximately 9.30pm. Visitors are encouraged to bring their own chairs and a picnic although there will be full catering facilities on site. Fancy dress of the period is also encouraged.
All in all this years Rotary, Cars in the Park event promises to be the best ever, and with all net proceeds from the event donated to Rotary Charities the organisers are hoping for a big turnout.
